Mohammed Hatta, born Muhammad Athar, also known as Bung Hatta (Fort de Kock, August 12, 1902 – Jakarta, March 14, 1980) was a Minangkabauer, economist, fighter for Indonesian independence, politician, and the first Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. He also served as Prime Minister for a time.
